Prayer Requests

Pray for success of both ASHAs (charity shops)

Pray that more like “R” will experience the grace of Christ

Pray that the diversity of the church would not cause disunity (as the Heppes try to minister to a range of religious backgrounds)

Pray for more financial support as much of their funds go towards ministry costs

Bob & Keren Heppe

Bob and Keren serve with World Harvest Mission in London, where there is a growing number of South Asians with over one million Indians and over 600,000 Pakistanis. Only 4% of South Asians are Christians in the United Kingdom. They lead a team that focuses on the London communities of Southall and Wembly where many South Asians comprise a diverse ministry community. A church is being planted and there is regular outreach into the community through street evangelism, youth events, short-term mission teams, and follow-up visits. Their team partners with South Asians to prepare them to return to their home countries as gospel laborers.

Bob and Keren also head up a resale shop (“ASHA”) in that community that helps as an outreach opportunity.

Report on ASHA

“In January we opened a second charity shop (ASHA) – in Kenton, Harrow. This is in the heart of the area of the second church plant (provisionally called New Life Swarta Sangat). The goals of the shops are threefold:

  • To reach out to Gujerati Hindus (in Harrow) and Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims (in Southall)
  • To create employment opportunities for those in the church
  • To generate additional funds beyond Rent and Salary to give toward mission. We have a goal of giving $18,000 to ministry in South Asia in 2007.”

Seeing God's Redemption

“For me, the best thing that has happened this year is that “R”, has been restored to fellowship. R is a 24 year old Sikh background follower of Jesus who has been involved in the New Life Masih Ghar fellowship for about 2 years. He struggles with a serious narcotics addiction for which he is treated with methadone.

Late last year something disturbed him and he went into a spiritual nosedive, separating himself almost completely from the church, and going back into his habit. He rebuffed our every attempt to connect for nearly six months. But praise God that R has repented and is restored to fellowship!

One great sign of God’s grace is that he initiated personal repentances and apologies to people he hurt and offended. When he approached me to ask for forgiveness it made my year; I was in the presence of the power of the grace of Christ. What a blessing.”- Bob Heppe
