Children's Ministry

UPC Kids Ministry

 

The Purpose of UPC Kids:

UPC KIDS, the children's ministry of UPC, is a place where children learn to know, love, and serve God. We help families lay a spiritual foundation for their children so that in God's timing each child can come to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Sunday School:

UPC KIDS key verse is Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." UPC KIDS strives to teach God's word and apply the biblical truths learned to everyday life. We do this by using a God centered curriculum and a creative learning environment. The Sunday school hours are designed to teach the children how to know God through his word and live out the gospel daily. Each lesson has a "take home" sheet so that the parents are equipped to reinforce what is being taught. Bible memory is an important part of the morning and the children enjoy the challenge of memorizing God's word.

Special Events:

UPC KIDS hosts different events during the year to help promote friendships and learning experiences.

  • Twice a year Communicants Class is offered to our 4th & 5th graders who want to learn about church membership, the sacraments, and what it means to be a communing member at UPC.
  • Throughout the year UPC KIDS enjoy Special Events such as Easter Funfest, Vacation Bible School, Birthday Party for Jesus and a Christmas Musical.
    All these events are great opportunities for our children to grow in their relationship with God and with one another.

Nursery:

The purpose of the nursery ministry is to care for babies from birth to 24 months in a clean, safe, and loving environment. There are three rooms for babies - a room for Sleeping babies, a room for Crawlers, and a room for Walkers. Here children are provided a nurturing environment that will establish caring relationships that begin at birth. It is not merely a baby-sitting service, but a ministry to both the parents of UPC as well as our guests.

Since providing excellent care in the nursery requires the involvement of twelve volunteers and two paid workers every Sunday, members of the congregation are asked to serve on the nursery schedule. By serving in this capacity, you are allowing others to grow in their walk with Jesus Christ for the first time and are assisting in the church's covenant responsibility to its children.
