Manna Ministry

This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the alien or the poor. In your hearts do not think evil of each other." Zechariah 7:9-10

Manna is UPC's ministry to the poor and homeless of East Orlando. Our community is very socio-economically diverse, with an estimated 500 homeless men and women and many more struggling with poverty. Not only are they strapped for cash, but they're often lacking in opportunity to break out of the poverty cycle. We want to take care of the whole person, as we're instructed to by Jesus' example of bringing healing, meeting physical needs, and sharing the good news of the Gospel (Matthew 4:23; 9:35-36; 10:1, 7-8). We want to equip those in our path with tools for daily living for the glory of God. We have several ways in which we meet people and hope to care for them.

Saturday breakfast

Weekly from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. at Downey Park, this is a hot breakfast we cook on-site. We need a team of 10-12 people each week and have a variety of positions to fill. This is a good way for LIFE Groups or families with older children (ages 8 and up) to serve together. Samaritan Resource Center

A new endeavor a long time in the making, the SRC is a partnership of several area churches pooling their resources to best serve the at-risk community in East Orange County. We're currently looking for a permanent location, but until then we have a mobile unit stationed at different food distribution centers already in existence. Resources will include a medical van, VA services, prayer, counseling, mental health assessments, Social Security and ID help, job assistance, and much more.
