The Barnabas Ministry is UPC’s ministry of care and compassion to those in need within the church family. As an equipping ministry of the Deacons, Barnabas Ministers work with our small groups to meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of those in our church going through a time of crisis.

What Kind of Needs Does Barnabas Ministry Address?

  • The Hospitalized
  • Those with chronic illness or disability
  • Shut-ins, the elderly
  • The convalescing
  • New babies and their parents
  • Widows & widowers, the grieving
  • Prayer requests
  • Single parents & orphans
  • Emergencies
  • People in need of transportation, home repair, or childcare

How Does Barnabas Ministry Work?

When a need arises within the church family, a network of Coordinators and Caregivers work together to meet the need as quickly as possible and for as long as it takes. We are always looking for volunteers. By giving just a little of your time to visit someone in the hospital, make a phone call, prepare a meal, pray, or give someone a ride, you can help UPC be a caring community
