Worship at upc
Services -
We offer two services that are basically identical to each other.
The times are 9:00 and 10:30 a.m.
Structure -
Our services aren't strictly structured, but do follow a general
outline as listed in the Church Bulletin you receive when you enter.
There is nothing you need to know or remember. We encourage people to bring
their own Bible, but if you don't have one, use the pew Bible. In fact take
it home with you if you can't afford to buy one.
The Lord's Supper -
We celebrate The Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of the month,
and on special occasions. During the Lord's Supper, we serve non-alcoholic
wine out of respect for those who don't inbibe. If you would like to know
more, please go to our Lord's
Supper page.
Collection -
We take a collection in every service. Our church is not centrally
funded and the finances are the responsibility of church members.
If you do not wish to contribute, just let the basket pass by.
Many members arrange their giving via standing orders, so a significant
proportion of the congregation will not be putting anything in
the basket.
Music-
If you’ve only attended “traditional” church
services, you may be surprised to see a variety of musicians at
our services, from a simple keyboard and guitar to a full rock
band. The songs we use vary from the traditional hymns to more
modern worship songs.
We have a video projector and large screen, onto which the song
words are projected, so you should have no difficulty keeping up.
Our congregation has a wide range of musical ability—so if
you can’t sing or don’t know the tune, you won’t
be the only one…
Message -
Our messages (or sermons) generally make full use of the church’s
media equipment, with illustrations and photographs as appropriate.
We tend to run a series of sermons across several weeks: if you
happen to come in in the middle, and want to catch up on what you
missed, Simply download a sermon online
for free.
All of our teaching is rooted in the Bible. We primarily use the
NIV (New International Version). If you don't have a Bible, feel
free to use the Bible in the seat in front of you; or - share!
Children -
We have different classes and programs for all ages including
a nursery for babies. for more information please go to our children's
ministry page.
Disabled Facilities -
The Church has handicapped parking in the front row, and has wheelchair access. Please, if you need any assistance, ask an usher.
