Our Vision
The vision of University Presbyterian Church is to populate as much of the world as possible with as many disciples of Christ as possible, beginning in East Orlando.
By “disciples of Christ” we mean:
- people whose lives have been transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ;
- who are equipped with a Biblical world-and-life view;
- who love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength;
- who love their neighbors as themselves;
- and who work together in humility and faith to bring our world and culture under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and transformed to the glory of God.
Our Mission Statement puts it this way:
“UPC strives to be a community of grace that makes a difference in the lives of people in East Orlando and around the world by leading them to know God, grow together, and serve others.”
Our motto says it even more succinctly:
Transforming Lives in a Changing World
In order to carry out this mission, we have identified several “ministry targets” on which we focus the bulk of our outreach efforts. Those targets are:
- Families, youth, and children living in east Orlando (87% of the people in our area are under the age of 55)
- The University of Central Florida (49,000 students and growing!)
- Young adults (single and married)
- The elderly in our immediate community, many of whom live at The Bridge and the LifeCare Center on Rouse Road
- The homeless (we are in the middle of one of the largest homeless communities in central Florida)
- Students at Riverdale Elementary School and University High School, and their families
- Women with crisis pregnancies at the True Life Choice Center
- The planting of daughter churches in partnership with Central Florida Presbytery
- Partnerships with mission agencies and missionaries around the world
